Positive Behavior System (Required)
Every classroom must have at least one PBS Must produce a weekly recognition or celebration — e.g. Fun Friday or Treasure Box
Examples:
ClassDojo Points Fill-a-Bucket Star Jar Bingo (example ↓)
Bingo Example: Scholars earn the privilege to pull numbers during or at end of class based on teacher-set positive behavior goals. Numbers fill one class bingo board — scholars work together toward 5 in a row for a Fun Friday or class celebration.
Seminal Frameworks
TLAC (Teach Like a Champion) — Building Effective Environment & Culture: teaches scholars what to do, structures teacher influence, and defines Least Invasive Interventions.

Cooperative Discipline (Linda Albert) — Connection, Capable, Contribute: every scholar belongs, matters, and can grow.
② The WSA Color Chart Management System
Every scholar starts on Green every class period:
GREEN
On Track — SPARK KidScholar is engaged and participating. Teacher actively "catches" good choices and works to keep scholars on Green.
LEI
Least Invasive Interventions — Used While Still on GreenNonverbal cue → Proximity → Verbal redirect. Teacher influence before any chart move. If LEI resolve the behavior, scholar stays on Green.
YELLOW
Warning — If/Then RedirectLEI were not enough. Teacher moves scholar to Yellow and uses private If/Then language with SPARK value named. Teacher continues catching scholars working back to Green.
ORANGE
TIME OUT
Time Out — Earn Your Way BackScholar goes to Time Out chair. Teacher states how to earn back. Max = scholar's age in minutes. Returns to desk still on Yellow. Can earn Green if caught participating. Time Out Log completed.
RED
WRITE-UP
Formal Write-Up — Reflection RequiredTriggered by: 3 trips to Orange in one class period. Reflection Form completed with scholar. Use Write-Up Form — not Time Out Log.
3 trips to Orange in one class period = Red = Formal Write-Up. Teacher completes Reflection Form with the scholar.
📋 Time Out — The Exact Script "Let me catch you sitting tall and quiet 3 times and you can earn your way back to the group." → Catch within scholar's age in minutes  ·  Scholar returns still on Yellow  ·  Can earn Green if caught "participating"
→ End-of-class: 3–5 min off recess  ·  Refusal to go = call leadership
✓ Time Out Rules
Max time = scholar's age in minutes
Tell scholar how to earn back before they sit
Scholar returns still on Yellow, not reset
Scholar re-enters class at Orange if removed
Complete the Time Out Log
⚠ Call Leadership Immediately If:
!Scholar is loud or playing in time out
!Scholar refuses to go to time out
!Scholar is physically aggressive → Office
!Scholar removed from class → re-enters at Orange
