Wayne STEM Academy
A School of Choice.
A Culture of Belonging.
The first tuition-free, elementary STEM-based public charter school in Wayne County, NC.
What Makes Us Different?
We refuse to excuse away failure and ecstatically celebrate success. At Wayne STEM Academy, We Do More.
A School for All
WSA is a Title I Schoolwide Program serving a diverse population from across Wayne County. We provide a high-level STEM environment that was previously out of reach for many families.
Intentional Design
We avoid "one-size-fits-all" instruction. Our model uses Direct Instruction and mastery-based placement to ensure that "all children will learn if we teach them carefully."
STEM Integration
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math aren't just subjects—they are the tools our scholars use to become peace-building, solution-focused citizens.
Our Core Charter Values
Governance & Leadership
Dr. Todd Forgette
Executive DirectorWith over 25 years of educational leadership experience, Dr. Forgette’s career spans every layer of school success—from serving as a classroom teacher and Principal to leading as a Charter School CEO. This deep institutional knowledge ensures that WSA is built on a foundation of systematic accountability and academic precision.
As a husband, father, and USSF-licensed soccer coach, he believes that the "Character Ethic" is the key to creating an environment where every scholar feels they truly belong. Under his leadership, WSA is a place where every child is valued as an individual.
